One More Comment

I have one more thing to chronicle before I put our two education days to rest. I just have to say that it was so nice to be in a room with others who are walking this path. I imagine that pregnant moms bond in birthing classes, so in a way, this was our little birthing class. This can be an isolating process, so it felt nice to make some connections.

The following was read to us, and I'm posting because Jon and I need to keep this advice in mind.

Open adoption is a risk, a gamble, but it is the right gamble.
Adoptive families are made of heart and soul instead of biology and genes.
And the more heart and soul you bring to this process, the richer your family's life is going to be.
Don't be afraid to wear your heart on your sleeve, to say what you think, to pipe in, to spill your guts, to shout out in anger or to cry out in joy.

Throughout this whole process, you are the most vulnerable person on earth, or at least you are going to feel that. And it makes no sense to conceal it. You'll cry like a river and in the end, I think you'll find that river is truly the river of life.
