Aww

According to one of "those" pregnancy websites I have avoided for so long, baby is about 2 pounds, 9 ounces right about now. That seems so big to me! I guess because we just found out the baby is coming, and already it is over 2 1/2 pounds, LOL.

Among our many topics of discussion this weekend has been names. Once upon a time, it seemed so easy! Now, we're blessed to be matched with a baby with one Caucasian parent, and one parent of Latin American descent. So we're thinking wee "Liam" is off the table! Girl names are easy--Olivia, Lucia (Lucy), Luciana (Lucy), Amelia, Lea, Maia/Maya. Any of those could work. Adel has been offering up some great suggestions, too. Thanks, Adel!!

Boys? We're stuck. Carlos/Marco/Joaquin are comical with our last name. All I've got is Simon. I know, not Latin, but Simon is better than Liam. Jon will never let me name our son Simon. If you have a suggestion, send it my way!

Why does it need to be a Latin name? I see no problem with Liam if it seems to fit the baby...but that might be me. My husband is half-Japanese but his name is Erik (Nordic spelling and all!) and it totally fits him. His middle name is Japanese...which you could make the child's middle name Latin if it's important to honor the Latin heritage...just a thought. =)

I agree, it doesn't need to be Latin, unless you want it to. Go to nameberry.com, they have TONS of fun and slightly unusual ideas!

We believe it would be nice to honor the baby's heritage in some way. Because the birthparents can name the baby too, we may use their choice as a middle name.
