Matched!!
Hooray! We're matched! The baby is due in early June! There really are no words to describe how this feels. All I've really been able to do is cry. There's something so humbling about being asked to be an adoptive parent. I really can't get my mind around the honor.
We will be meeting the birthmom and her family in a little over a week. She sounds like a wonderful person, with a strong support network. Maybe, just maybe, we'll learn pink or blue on that day!
I haven't slept much this past week, but adrenaline and Diet Dr. Pepper are wonderful things. Jon and I talked about buying a book for the baby as a memento of the day we learned he or she would be coming into our lives. Sadly, Jon is on a business trip, so I went to Barnes and Noble alone. I spent 45 minutes trying to find the most perfect book and finally came up with this one . . .

Of course it is about the birth of a baby, but it is just the most beautiful book, and such a celebration of a parent's love. The illustrations remind me so much of our family favorite, The Next Place: http://www.amazon.com/Next-Place-Warren-Hanson/dp/0931674328/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1236905978&sr=1-1
I had to wander into the baby care section, and oh my, that's an overwhelming genre! Suggestions? I was all set on the Penelope Leach, when suddenly out of the corner of my eye, I saw this friendly face:

T. Berry Brazelton! He's still alive! I need to interview pediatricians (evidently) and think I would just like him to move in. Touchpoints: $17.99. Done.
And then I went to Target . . . and actually enjoyed the baby section!
Sweet dreams, little baby. We're so happy you are on your way!
